Last week in the Archives of Internal Medicine, diabetics learned they
can safely treat their joint problems and even osteoarthritis with the
natural supplement glucosamine. Glucosamine is produced by the body and
is found predominantly in joint cartilage. Current pharmaceutical treatments
can put diabetics at risk for toxic effects. In a recent clinical study,
participants taking 20 milligrams of the supplement per kilogram of body
weight daily did not cause changes in their glucose levels.
