(September 13, 2003) --,Today at the WTO Ministerial there was an action
in the convention center,
outside the press room. Activists were bound in red tape, wore signs saying
they were dying without access to medicines, and reached for a big pill
that
was out of reach all in an effort to dramatize the impact the burdensome
Motta-
plus text on production for export, agreed to August 30 by WTO Members,
will
have on access to medicines. There was also a participant wearing Zoellick/Lamy
to highlight the impact of their pressure on this deal. Media were very
interested in the action, which was followed by a press conference. This
press
release was circulated by Health GAP and Act Up Paris.
